The effects of poverty on children are wide-reaching and can lead to lifelong struggles, especially when they don’t receive full education. In Uganda, as in other developing countries, poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged families struggle to provide adequate and quality education for their children.
The situation is even more difficult for girls as they may go through more difficult paths to achieve their educational aspirations. Yet, it is an established fact that, when educated, girls grow to become women who are empowered to take their rightful place in families, communities, and countries.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Prov 22:6)
Kapondo supports the education of children, especially girls, from poor and disadvantaged families. We provide information and advice on educational opportunities and financial support for qualifying children. To advance this objective, we continually seek for and establish partnerships to promote the education of such children.
To further this objective, we undertake the following activities, among others:
- Compile, document and disseminate information on educational opportunities.
- Support beneficiaries to access educational facilities and learning resources.
- Identify and establish relevant partnerships to promote education.
- Avail educational financial and other resources.
- Provide spiritual and Christian mentorship to these protegees.
